What to Do and See in Park City

Park City transforms into a mountain Tinseltown during the annual Sundance Film Festival. With luck you may spot A-list celebs. Word on the street clues you in to what’s hot: Listen in, then queue up for waitlist tickets.

Three stories of interactive displays the Park City Museum cover the city’s history from its days as a booming mining town to its current incarnation as a winter sports hub. Board an original car used in the world’s first underground ski lift and learn how settlers arrived in Park City.

What to do Outdoors in Winter

Catch Park City Mountain Resort's Town Lift from Main Street for direct access to 7,300 acres of skiing and snowboarding. You can also opt for a wild ride on Utah’s longest alpine coaster, a 4,000-foot elevated track with plenty of loops and dips. The toboggan-style cars can reach speeds of 25 mph.

Rip through 10 turns at up to 70 mph on an Olympic-length bobsled track at Utah Olympic Park. Afterward, strike a torch-bearing pose for a souvenir pic at the Eccles 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum.

Buy or rent skis and snowshoes to use on groomed trails, or join a guided tour with White Pine Touring

Where to Eat and Drink

Imbibe drinks such as Magic Hour—an intoxicating combo of bourbon and mezcal with pineapple and cayenne pepper—at High West Distillery & Saloon. The former livery stable has become the world’s first ski-in gastro-distillery.

Carve out space among the barflies and ski bums to order a buffalo burger at No Name Saloon and Grill, or work your way upstairs to a heated outdoor deck—an ideal place to savor a pint of Saltfire Hefeweizen on a frigid night.

Order the apricot-soy glazed salmon and try the black currant baked Alaska at Wahso.

Where to Shop

For more than a century, Burns Cowboy Shop has sold cowboy classics such as boots, trophy belt buckles in sterling silver, and custom hats.

Peruse balsamic vinegars and dozens of extra-virgin olive oils from around the globe, such as Persian lime and roasted walnut, at Mountain Town Olive Oil Co. Stock up on local preserves, salt, and spice blends, too.
