You’ll begin in Rio de Janeiro, a dazzling beauty of a city. Get your feet wet on the famous beaches of Copacabana and neighboring Ipanema. Take a cogwheel train through the largest urban forest in the world before ascending up Corcovado Mountain to view the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of The New Seven Wonders of the World. Ride a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic vistas of the city. And feast your senses at a traditional Brazilian BBQ and Samba show.

Schooner at dockThen experience what has been acclaimed as one of the most charming attractions in the entire Rio area on an all-day excursion. After a short drive, you’ll arrive at the fishing village Itacurussa and Sepetiba Bay with its 300 islands. Made of sheer rock and covered with thick, lush vegetation, the islands appear to be floating jungles in the emerald green waters. Spend the day sailing and swimming among these floating jungles, with a break for lunch on a private island.

Iguassu FallsYour Brazilian adventure finishes with a flourish at Iguassu Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site that straddles Brazil and Argentina. Taller than Niagara by 65 feet and twice as wide, Iguassu Falls consists of 275 cascades spread across nearly two miles. Every second, nearly 450,000 gallons of water crash down in hundreds of subsidiary waterfalls. One of South America’s greatest natural treasures and truly an awesome sight!

Itinerary mapDay 1 - Arrive in Rio de Janeiro
Welcome to the “Marvelous City” of Rio de Janeiro where you are met at International Airport and transferred to the hotel.
Accommodation: Excelsior Copacabana or similar - 4 nights

Day 2 - Corcovado Tour** and Tijuca Forest
This morning, visit the Christ the Redeemer Statue standing atop of Corcovado Mountain (2,300 feet above sea level) and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Drive through the Laranjeiras residential district and the quaint Cosme Velho to the Corcovado train station and board a cogwheel train for a 15-minute ride that crosses Tijuca forest - the largest urban forest in the world. It features 8,000 acres of tropical rainforest right in the middle of Rio de Janeiro. Once on the mountaintop, you will be amazed at the construction of the statue, consisting of 120 feet of concrete and soapstone. From here, marvel at the spectacular 360° views over the city. Your afternoon is at leisure to explore Rio on your own.

Day 3 - Sugar Loaf Mountain** and Samba
Enjoy a free morning before departing on a tour that begins with a drive along famous beaches: Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana and Leme, finally reaching Praia Vermelha or Red Beach, in the Urca district. From here a cable car ascent is made in two stages toward the top of the Sugar Loaf Mountain. It takes three minutes to reach the first stage, Urca Mountain, for a view over the city. Continue to the peak where the crescent of Atlantic Ocean beaches is fully in view. This evening experience Brazilian culture at the Plataforma Samba Show which includes a traditional Brazilian BBQ.

Day 4 - Islands Sail & Swim Tour
Today’s experience has been acclaimed as one of the most charming attractions in the entire Rio area. Drive 90 minutes through fields, banana plantations and villages to the fishing village of Itacurussa, gateway to Sepetiba Bay and its more than 300 islands. Made of sheer rock and covered with thick, lush vegetation, they appear to be floating jungles in the emerald green waters. Embark on a saveiro, a schooner from the northeast of Brazil, for a leisurely cruise in the calm waters of the Sepetiba Bay. Stop for swim on a deserted island, then continue to a private island for lunch followed by free time before returning to the hotel.

Day 5 - Rio de Janeiro / Iguassu Falls
Transfer to airport for the flight (not included) to Iguassu Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the airport you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, a tour of the Brazilian Falls includes views of the falls on the Argentinean side. Walk along the pathway through the lush forest where you see more of the falls and possibly some small animals, birds and butterflies. Return to the main road by elevator and then back to your hotel for the evening.

Note: If you book the flight from Rio to Iguassu Falls to arrive in Iguassu by 12:00pm -12:30pm, you should have time to do this afternoon tour on Day 5 and the second falls tour on Day 6.

Day 6 - Iguassu Falls: Argentina Side
This morning tour the Argentinean Falls which is located between Brazil and Argentina inside the Yguazú National Park. The falls are the main attraction in Puerto Yguazú. There are two options for strolls next to the falls: One option takes you to see San Martin Island on the Brazilian side. The other option provides a nice view from Devil’s Throat (Garganta do Diablo), another fall on the Brazilian side.

Day 7 - Depart Iguassu Falls
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
