Promising some of the best wildlife viewing in East Africa, this safari is sure to wow first-time Africa travelers as well as seasoned safari enthusiasts. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s largest caldera, with its full kaleidoscope of African wildlife happily living on the lush pastures of the crater floor. And roam the great plains of the Serengeti in search of the migratory herds of zebra and wildebeest and their territorial predators: lion, leopard and cheetah.
Begin your wildlife pilgrimage in Tarangire National Park with its rolling grasslands, vibrant swamps and tall baobab trees. During the dry season, animals concentrate along the Tarangire river valleys including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu, eland, oryx, zebra and up to 6,000 elephants. Also see lion, leopard and cheetah as well as a spectacular abundance of bird life. Keep your eyes peeled for bustards, parrots, pelicans, hornbills and eagles.
Continue to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing Manyara lions, pink-hued flamingos and blue monkeys. Then descend over 2,000 feet into Ngorongoro Crater for a day of exploring and wildlife viewing. Within the 100 square miles of the crater is one of the densest concentrations of game to be found in Africa. Enjoy a picnic lunch as you observe herds of elephants, large prides of lions and countless gazelles, zebras and wildebeest.
Conclude your safari in the great Serengeti, the endless plains in the Masai language, where more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thompson’s gazelle and a quarter million zebra gather for their annual migration, all the while attracting large predators such as lions, leopards, cheetah and hyena.
Throughout your adventure, stay at luxurious safari camp lodges featuring deluxe accommodations, private wildlife viewing areas and three delicious meals served daily. Capture a gallery of striking images as rangers guide you on morning and afternoon game drives: a lioness relaxing after her morning hunt, alert elephants guarding their young and ungainly herds of wildebeest grazing alongside zebra and gazelle. And enjoy scenic aerial viewing as you fly between locations, maximizing your safari time each step of the way.

Majestic baobab trees are a main feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. During the dry season from June to November, animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in Masai land. The area supports a great diversity of wildlife, including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu, eland, oryx and zebra. Lion, leopard and cheetah are also present. Day 3 - Game Drives in Tarangire
Enjoy morning and afternoon safari drives through the Tarangire National Park. Tarangire boasts large herds of elephant, buffalo, as well as a large concentration of big cats and arguably the best bird diversity in East Africa.
Day 4 - Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This morning continue your safari as you drive to Lake Manyara National Park to find animals not seen on your previous game drives. Lake Manyara Park, two-thirds of which is taken up by Lake Manyara itself, is most famous for its tree-climbing lions and large herds of elephant. Manyara also provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Engaging Experience: Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large water birds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.
Afterwards, depart Lake Manyara to continue your journey to the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the next two nights are spent at Gibbs Farm, a small and intimate lodge nestled on the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands.
Accommodation: Gibbs Farm - 2 nights
Day 5 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Engaging Experience: Today, you’ll descend into the 100-square mile Ngorongoro Crater to spend the day wildlife viewing on the crater’s sprawling floor. Designated as one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa, Ngorongoro Crater is home to herds of elephants, prides of lions, gazelles, zebras, and wildebeest. Watch the amusing antics at the hippo pool as you enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to your lodge.
The remainder of the day is at leisure. Explore the farm and visit the open kitchen to see what the chef is preparing or just enjoy and unwind in your suite and revel in the infinite stars sparkling in the skies.
Day 6 - Serengeti National Park
Take a short flight to the great Serengeti, the endless plains in the Masai language and a UNESCO-designated national park. Your tented camp is ideally situated near the paths of the annual migration of more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson’s gazelle and a quarter million zebra, along with the large predators they attract such as lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena. With the park as your safari base, your next three days will be filled with morning and afternoon game viewing activities when the animals are most active.
Accommodation: Olakira Camp - 3 nights
Days 7 & 8 - Game Viewing in the Serengeti
Engaging Experience: Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the spectacular Serengeti. Negotiating roads and tracks, your guide slowly transports you to a world of unrivaled scenic splendor, revealing sights and sounds of astonishing realism. See a lion relaxing, temporarily satiated after its morning hunt; notice a contented elephant carefully guarding its young as they traverse the bush – these are some of the images you will collect and preserve on film.
Return to the camp for breakfast and some time to rest before setting out for the afternoon game drive which ends just before dusk. Return to the familiar surroundings of the camp, pleasantly tired but brimming with enthusiasm about your experiences during the day. Indulge in the luxury of a hot shower before dinner. Relax with after-dinner drinks while the night and its inhabitants settle around you and you ponder the power and the wonder that is Africa.
Day 9 - Return to Arusha & Depart
