What to Call Us

“AAA” is our preferred business name in print stories. For broadcast, you can call us “Triple-A.” Regionally, we prefer to be identified as one of the following: AAA Northern California, AAA Nevada or AAA Utah. The name “American Automobile Association” is no longer used, simply “AAA.” Historically, we were known as the California State Automobile Association; however, that name is no longer used.

What We Do

Automotive
AAA is the largest, most reliable provider of emergency road service in the world. AAA of Northern California first began offering roadside service in 1924. Each year, AAA Emergency Road Service responds to almost 30 million distress calls from Members nationally. In 2011, we responded to more than 2.6 million calls within Northern California, Nevada, and Utah. Our Members report an 88.1% satisfaction rate with our Emergency Road Service.
The top three reasons people call AAA are to get a tow for a broken-down vehicle; to get a jumpstart or battery replacement service; and because they are locked out of their vehicles.
The AAA-Approved Auto Repair Program has evaluated and approved more than 600 auto repair facilities in Northern California, Nevada and Utah. AAA Members using the facilities report a 99.2% satisfaction rate. For locations near you, call the AAA Approved Auto Repair referral hotline at (800) 645-4288.

Insurance
AAA is one of the top five insurance agencies in the state of California. We have nearly 1 million auto insurance policyholders and insure approximately 1.7 million cars in California. Our insurance partner, the AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah Insurance Exchange, began offering auto insurance in 1914. One out of every five cars on Northern California roads is insured by AAA.
In addition to auto and homeowners, AAA offers its members motorcycle, watercraft, motorhome, renters, rental property, flood, umbrella, travel and life insurance.

Travel
AAA Travel is the nation's largest leisure travel agency, offering booking for unique vacation packages, cruises, flights, hotels and car rentals around the world.
AAA Members and their travel companions account for 38 percent of all spending on U.S. lodging stays annually, or nearly 1 million hotel rooms each day.
Every year, AAA tourism editors evaluate and assign ratings of 1 to 5 diamonds for nearly 32,000 lodgings in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. These diamond ratings are listed in the annual TourBook® guides.
There are over 70 AAA Travel locations in Northern California, nine in Nevada and five in Utah. AAA Travel services can also be accessed online at www.aaa.com or via our toll free number, (888) 937-5523.

Membership Services
AAA Members save an average of $100 each year with discounts on hotels, restaurants, rental cars as well as at retail stores both online and in person.
One of the largest travel publishers in the world, AAA distributes millions of maps, TourBooks, TripTik® and other auto and travel publications each year as well as providing online directions and gas prices.
