After 20 satisfied years with AAA, Judy Tomasso was just about to switch to another auto insurer to save a few dollars when she had an experience that made her renew her AAA insurance—and her appreciation for its value. Here’s what happened:
“This past May, the window of my Saturn coupe was smashed right in front of my house in San Francisco around three in the afternoon. I was so shocked when I discovered the vandalism that my first phone call—to AAA—wasn’t very succinct or calm.
“Luckily, I had the sure and steady guidance of AAA customer service representative Susan Robel. She was efficient and kind. She assured me that she could help me get everything taken care of without my making another call. And she was right!
“After I talked to Susan, SafeRite glass repair called me. We set an appointment for them to come to my home to fix my smashed car window. They arrived right on time, brought the correct replacement window, and took care of the paperwork with AAA.
“The morning after the vandalism, I got a phone call from Hertz explaining that AAA had called them to set up a rental for me. I was able to pick up a car by walking to the Hertz agency closest to my office. AAA paid for rental—no hassles.
“Within a week, I received a $250 check from AAA to cover the loss of property that had been stolen from my car. The check arrived so quickly it made me smile. In the days that followed, AAA called several times to make sure that all the repair work had been completed and to see if my expectations had been met.
“After having this experience in which all the many details of a problem were handled for me in a highly organized, caring manner when I really needed the help, there is simply no way that I would insure my car with any other company but AAA. I am a very satisfied customer.”
